Restore the pier![edit | edit source]
At least three Facebook groups have just been formed on the subject of the 104-year-old pier.
- One called "weston-super-mare Pier RIP" offers this news: "Weston-super-Mare Pier burnt down on the 28th July 2008. Lets make sure that it gets rebuilt and not just left like the Tropicana!!" Founder is Sacha Law sachaun1000"at"yahoodotcom.
- Another is stronger on capitalisation and optimism. Its name is "Rebuild Weston-Super-Mare Pier" and its founder is Helen Rose. Its statement is "the grand pier at weston caught fire and the pavilion was totally destroyed." and it has a photo of the pavilion in happier days.
- Helen Rose is a joint founder of "PIER AID!", which proposes a "T4-style gig/festival to kick start the local economy".
