The city of Huntsville grew tremendously in from the 1950s to the 1970s because of the space programs. Immediately after World War II, experts in rocketry who came from Germany were settled in Huntsville. Rockets were tested there. NASA and the aerospace industry has a large presence. Saturn V boosters were tested there. Residents tell stories of becoming so used to the Earth shaking in response to the rocket testing, that they didn't notice earthquakes. Huntsville is home to Space Camp and the U.S. Space & Rocket Museum (Huntsville:Museums).
